Pigs loving the outside

We’ve had a few lovely sunny, crisp, wintry days on the farm this week and the children have enjoyed being out and about with our Berkshire piglets (along with a few guest British White Lops – a really rare British breed).  Pigs love to graze, giving lots of natural Omegas to their diet!

Congratulations on reaching the finals and flying the flag for this splendid pig breed ? are your Berkshire pigs pedigree ? and in the BPA Herd book ?

  2. Hi Viki

Sorry for late reply, only just found this email when tidying up the website.

Yes all our sows and our boar are pedigree but as we do not sell any breeding stock we do not registar any in our name. All our pigs are bred as meat animals. There is simply not enought time in the day to registar all the pigs as we now have well over 100. We also have a dairy herd so between the two businesses we have far to much form filling as it is!

Some of our Sows are from Smallicombe, one from Sue Fildes, a few from David New and the rest from other sources but simular lines to Smallicombe.

Thanks for getting in touch and if you would like to know anymore please email me – louise@theuncommonpig.com

    Best wishes
